Rhapsody Presents Jamey Johnson With 'Music Without Limits' Award at 2009 CMT Music Awards
NASHVILLE - June 16, 2009 - Today, during the red carpet ceremonies at the 2009 CMT Music Awards, Jamey Johnson will be presented as winner of the inaugural Rhapsody® Music Without Limits Award. The Rhapsody Music Without Limits Award honors artists or groups that exemplify the values of music discovery that are at the core of the Rhapsody music service. "It's an honor anytime your music gets recognized, but it makes it even more special to be the very first person to receive this award," said award winner, Jamey Johnson. "There have been a lot of 'firsts' in my career lately and I'm proud to have this addition. I love what it stands for, I love what it says. Music should never have limits." Recipients of the Music Without Limits Award are noted for their ability to push boundaries with their artistry, exhibiting a willingness to explore and introduce new sounds into an existing music genre. In the years since Johnson first appeared on the Nashville scene as a co-writer on George Strait's award-winning "Give It Away," he has matured into a talented solo artist, who, with commercial and critical credibility, is helping shape the future of country music. With the release of his 2008 sophomore album, That Lonesome Song, including the Grammy-nominated single "In Color", Johnson introduced himself to a whole new group of fans. Heralded by many as a key member of the "New Outlaw" movement, Johnson injects a sense of history and authority to the current country music landscape. In honor of Jamey's accomplishment, his home will be equipped with a Linksys by Cisco Wireless Home Audio Premier Kit and a year-long subscription to Rhapsody, allowing him to listen to any of Rhapsody's 7-million song catalog from any room in his house.
